Outdoor Ethics Guide

Description: Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader to help the troop plan and conduct an outdoor program that emphasizes effectively practicing the Outdoor Code, the Leave No Trace principles, and the Tread Lightly! Principles.
Reports To: Senior Patrol Leader or an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
Work with Scouts in the troop to improve their outdoor ethics decision-making skills to help minimize impacts as they hike, camp, and participate in outdoor activities.
Support Scouts who are working to complete Outdoor Ethics related requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.
Be familiar with the BSA Outdoor Ethics Awareness and Action awards program, and encourage the troop and individual Scouts to earn the awards.
Encourage work on conservation-related projects, including those that support rank advancement requirements or achievement of Hornaday awards.
Complete a Leave No Trace awareness course either in person or online.
Complete a Tread Lightly! awareness course either in person or online.

Eligibility: First Class rank or higher, unless special approval is given by the Scoutmaster
